PMS
The Power Management System (PMS) is responsible for controlling the vessel's electrical system. Its main objective is to ensure that the electrical power plant is safe and efficient, distributing the load to the optimum point for each of the generators, symmetrically or asymmetrically, and even disconnecting them when necessary.
The functions of the PMS are:
- On and off on demand
- Advanced outage management
- Priority selection
- Large consumer management
- Asymmetric load distribution
- Disconnection of non-essential loads
- Emergency generator as shore generator
- Continuity of power supply during transfers between shaft generators/grounding/auxiliary generators
The DEIF PPM 300 solution incorporates several control, protection and monitoring functions that ensure correct and stable operation, such as:
- Synchronization and load distribution
- Load reduction
- Large consumers
- Fuel optimization
- Recovery of a ship without power
- Alarm management
*There are other DEIF solutions (PPM 3, PPU 300, GPU 300), but they require a PLC and are not technically considered PMS (except PPM 3, which is considered PMS but does not have alarm management).
ADVANTAGES
The main advantages are the maximization of outage prevention and cost reduction by minimizing fuel consumption and equipment failures through good maintenance, in addition to protecting them.
In addition, DEIF controllers can be adjusted and maintained anywhere in the world, not only by Insteimed but also by any authorized DEIF distributor worldwide.
